Trying to link two Raisecom RC512-FE-C-SS13 media converters
I’ve acquired two Raisecom chassis with RC512-FE-C-SS13 module boards installed from our fibre provider. Through ISP acquisitions, the hardware was deprecated and the provider did not want the hardware back when I upgraded my service last year.
I was figuring that since these are media converters, albeit from an ISP environment, I may be able to use the devices at some point. The issue is that I cannot get a fiber link established between the two units. Both units were working correctly when I decommissioned the hardware. The SC cable between the units was checked with a simple test of shining a light in at one end (not a laser, just a smartphone camera LED).
Without documentation available from the manufacturer (https://www.raisecom.com/support), I cannot determine if I require a different end unit. One of my links states that two devices are always deployed together. Does that mean that the RC512-FE-S unit is more like a server or master unit and that I have two «client» devices?
Considering that the images I see online connecting two devices always seem to have one as the -S and one as the -C, chances are good that two -C will not work together. I just need some confirmation if anyone has a clue.
There are DIP switches on the module card that I could potentially use but I’m not versed enough in fiber to know what I’m doing.
